Inter-Company Transfer
Inter-Company Transfer
Canada offers a program called the “Intra-Company Transfer” (ICT) program, which allows multinational companies to transfer certain employees from their foreign offices to their Canadian branches. This is facilitated through the Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP).
The ICT program has different categories based on the employee’s role, the nature of the company, and the level of the employee’s position within the organization. The main categories are:
- Executives and Senior Managers: This category is for employees who hold senior management or executive-level positions within the company and are being transferred to Canada to manage a Canadian office or department.
- Specialized Knowledge Workers: This category is for employees who possess specialized knowledge about the company’s products, services, research, equipment, techniques, or management and are being transferred to a Canadian office.
- Graduates: This category is for recent international graduates of Canadian educational institutions who are being transferred to a related company in Canada to gain work experience.
The ICT program has certain eligibility criteria, and both the sending company and the receiving Canadian company need to meet specific requirements. The employee being transferred also needs to meet certain criteria, such as having been employed by a foreign company for a certain period of time and having a job offer from a Canadian company.
Please note that immigration policies can change over time, so I recommend visiting the official website of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) or consulting with an immigration professional for the most up-to-date and accurate information regarding the Intra-Company Transfer program or any other immigration-related matters.
